GAETANO MARINETTI

The one who started a story that, today, continues to grow without ever stopping.

Gaetano Marinetti was born in September 1948 to a family of modest origins who immediately passed on to him the strong values of tradition and sacrifice; Feeling these values as his own, Gaetano began his bakery business at the age of 15, taking on the role of boy in the bakery of one of his fellow villagers, who immediately realized the young man's potential and therefore chose to have him take on the role of helper-collaborator.

Gaetano's dream seemed to take shape but shortly thereafter, the bakery had to close and he found himself having to say goodbye to Sicily to head to Germany where, with his father, they would find economic relief which, in that period, was not available at all. south.

Gaetano Marinetti, driven by the ardent desire to produce HIS bread, returned to Gela where, with quite a few vicissitudes, he managed to start his own business thanks also to the help of a fellow villager who rented him his bread-making workshop and of a dear friend who lent him a vehicle to make bread deliveries, an Ape 50.

Thus Antica Forneria Gaetano Marinetti would soon be born, a dream that at the time seemed too big for a young boy.
That dream full of sacrifice and perseverance became reality in 1960 with the opening of the first point of sale where only homemade bread was sold, a distinctive sign, still today, of the production of Antica Forneria Gaetano Marinetti.

The entrepreneurial network explodes and with it also the demand of the citizens, who were soon satisfied with the inclusion of new products in the sales points which, over the years, went from 1 to 3, all located in the Gela area.

Gaetano Marinetti also had an important role in the protection of the category to which he himself belonged, in fact, he first became provincial president of the Confartigianato bakers and was subsequently elected to the Palermo office to play the role of regional president; with the association he tried to resolve important problems such as that of the price of bread and over the years he worked to obtain the Sunday closure of bakers'/bakers' sales points, which he managed to receive in terms of law but which however was never applied.

After having faced and won this battle, Gaetano Marinetti decided that he would dedicate himself only to the activity that had accompanied him until then, the bakery.
On 12 May 1991, ASCOM CONFCOMMERCIO GELA awarded Gaetano Marinetti the recognition plaque "A LIFE FOR WORK", a work that continues today with the strength and perseverance of the Marinetti family.
